I live in Southern California in a home that is only 30 years old, yet somehow each morning it feels like we accidentally left the roof off all night. I run to the heater, crank it up, and run back into bed until it's safe to exit again. This cocktail gives you that tucked-in-bed-heater-cranking-happiness in a mug. It's perfect for sipping Thanksgiving morning while you're up to your ears in food prep and maybe even better at the end of the night when the last dish is dry. Use your favorite whiskey and adjust the sugar to your liking.
Hot Vanilla Whiskey 3 ounces black tea (your favorite) 1-2 ounces whiskey 1 tablespoon vanilla simple syrup*
*To make vanilla simple syrup, boil one cup of water with one cup of sugar and add a large, fresh vanilla bean.
