There are only so many times that you can pass up the giant jar of marshmallow caramels at the checkout counter in Sur la Table. At some point you buckle and buckle big. Besides a few new kitchen gadgets and cocktail accessories, I walked home this past weekend with ten of these decadent candies. Clearly I only needed a few (honestly - one) for figuring out the cocktail version, but any less than ten felt restrained, and I wasn't in the mood for holding back.
The ingredients in the Hammond's Candies caramels are... Sugar, evaporated milk, brown sugar, coconut oil, salt, vanilla extract, and marshmallow.
Here's the cocktail version...
Marshmallow Caramel Martini 1.5 ounces marshmallow vodka ½ ounce coconut rum ½ ounce creme ¼ teaspoon vanilla syrup ¼ teaspoon caramel syrup ½ teaspoon brown sugar & salt combination
Directions: Pour a small amount of the vanilla syrup onto a plate and smooth flat with a spoon. Onto another plate, mix the brown sugar and salt. Dip your glass into the syrup, then dip the glass into the sugar salt combo, shaking off any excess. Set the glass aside.
Fill a shaker with ice, and add the marshmallow vodka, coconut rum, creme, and vanilla and caramel syrup. Shake well to evening distribute the syrups (best kept at room temp).
Strain into your glass and serve.
