It’s clear why Jonathan Gold deemed Baco Mercat worthy of #14 on his LA Times 101 Best Restaurants list. Every single thing from the Copper Fix cocktail (bourbon, angostura bitters, honey, and lemon juice) I ordered while waiting for our table to the pistachio cheesecake dessert was phenomenal. Located in the historic Old Bank district in downtown Los Angeles, this restaurant is nestled within a lively cluster of restaurants, and packed even on a Tuesday night. We tried the caramelized cauliflower, squash blossoms, double mushroom coca, and duck breast, and all were delicious. Regrettably we failed to try a Baco, the signature flat bread sandwich and restaurant namesake, but there’s always next time because we will be sure to go back!
