Riverside Restaurant Review: The Salted Pig

There's good news then bad news then good news. The good news is that we showed up as a party of 14 and they accommodated us.

The bad news will be dealt with in a separate post but let's just say that when your drink is served with a heavy dose of arrogance it doesn't taste as good.

Now- to get back to the good news. Because our party was so large we were moved downstairs which was the best thing ever. Upstairs is lively and crowded and noisy and happening. Downstairs is windowless and quiet and nondescript. However, it was perfect for us. We needed some space to hear each other speak. If you are planning a large gathering in Riverside, California, this could be the venue for you. 30 minutes into our meal we were joined downstairs by another large party, a wedding party to be exact, but the space was big enough and the staff efficient and professional enough to accommodate us both without issue.

The food was mostly good. Here's what I liked: Brussel sprouts, filthy fries, wild kale salad, tomato sandwich, mac n' cheese, The Black & Tan, coffee & donuts.

Here's what I didn't like: The Really Good (burger) and the bacon ice cream.

I drank the Clever Girl (pink peppercorn infused tequila, pineapple, fresh lime juice, angostura bitters) and loved it. I also enjoyed my shot of silver tequila but it wasn't a recognizable name and by that point I was over writing it down.

Definitely stop by The Salted Pig if you're in the area and let us know what you ate and what you think.
