Just last night we were on the rooftop bar of the Ace Hotel in downtown Los Angeles, sipping bubbly and celebrating our friend's birthday. It was the eve of summer solstice and a perfect SoCal night to be out with friends in an open-air bar. And of course, the drink everyone kicked off the evening with? Bubbly!
Cocktails made with sparkling wines like prosecco are so popular right now (and we're guessing they will be forever) because they're light, simple to make, and unquestionably classy. We recently made three summery cocktails for La Marca Prosecco that will liven up your warm-weather entertaining and kick off your party with a hint of sophistication.
PICNIC PERFECT 4 ounces La Marca Prosecco 1 ounce bourbon 3/4 ounce homemade sweet & sour 1/3 cup strawberries
Directions: Muddle the strawberries in an ounce of bourbon. Strain the liquid into your serving glass and add the sweet and sour. Pour in the La Marca Prosecco and garnish with a strawberry.
SIMPLE SUMMER 4 ounces La Marca Prosecco 1 ounce coconut rum 1/2 ounce triple sec Fresh coconut garnish
Directions: Crack open a fresh coconut, remove a portion of the flesh, and cut out a star-shaped garnish. Add the coconut rum and triple sec to the serving glass, followed by 4 ounces of La Marca Prosecco. Garnish with the coconut star and serve.
BLUE BREEZE 4 ounces La Marca Prosecco 1 ounce gin 1/4 ounce elderflower liqueur Squeeze of a lemon wedge Blueberry garnish
Directions: Combine the gin, elderflower liqueur, and lemon juice in a serving glass. Add the La Marca Prosecco, garnish with the blueberries, and serve.
