We'll be drinking the best watermelon Margaritas you've ever tasted to celebrate National Tequila Day on July 24th, but just type "tequila" into our blog's search box on the right and you'll find tequila recipes six ways to Sunday. To make this recipe, it's best to plan ahead several hours...ideally a day. Watermelon Margaritas taste best with freshly frozen watermelon chunks or balls, homemade sweet & sour, and top shelf orange liqueur.
Add salt to the rim for a sensational flavor contrast or dust with sugar for an extra sip of sweetness. Either way, you really cannot go wrong with this drink.
Watermelon Margarita Recipe ~ Serves 2 (Or one if you just drink straight from the blender) 2 cups frozen watermelon chunks 3 ounces homemade sweet & sour 2 ounces tequila (use your fave) 1.5 ounces orange liqueur 1 cup ice* optional! add for extra bulk (used in these photos) Lime garnish
Directions A day ahead (or 4-5 hours), freeze watermelon chunks and make the homemade sweet and sour. When you're ready to make the drink, combine all of the ingredients in a blender and mix until smooth. Run a lime around the rim of the glass, dip it in salt or sugar, garnish with a lime, and serve.
